Managing Analysis Packages

Analysis Packages: Central Management of Your Inventories
Analysis packages play a central role in NTFS inventory within Docusnap365. They bundle system, AD, and NTFS data at a consistent point in time, forming the basis for traceable analyses — and later for delta comparisons.
This chapter shows where to find analysis packages, how to edit them, and what to consider when selecting one.
Where Can I Find Analysis Packages?
Analysis packages are managed under Configuration > Analysis Packages. There you can view all previously defined packages, filter them, edit them, or create new ones.

Editing Package Definitions
Each analysis package contains specific inventory information:
- Package name (freely selectable)
- Server name (e.g.,
DOSPFS06
) - Domain
- Username & password for authentication
- Shares to be scanned (e.g.,
Finance$, HR$, Projects
)
Double-click a package or click “Edit” to open the detail view.

Selecting a Package for Scanning
When creating a new interactive NTFS inventory job, you can select the desired analysis package directly in the wizard.
Advantages:
- Docusnap365 automatically detects all defined shares, users, and settings
- The data is assigned to the existing package
- The foundation for later version comparisons is preserved

Creating New Analysis Packages
If no package exists or a completely new scan is required (e.g., for other shares), you can define a new analysis package via “+ New”.
Best practices:
- Use descriptive names (e.g.,
ntfs_DOSPFS06_Q2_2025
) - Document the purpose or context of the package
- Ensure that you define all relevant shares that should belong to the package

Summary
- Analysis packages provide consistent management of NTFS scans in Docusnap365
- They are located under Configuration > Analysis Packages
- Existing packages can be reused during job creation
- New packages can be easily defined with server, user, domain, and shares
- Even today, analysis packages form the structural foundation for future delta comparisons and historical analyses
Tip: Whenever possible, always repeat scans using the same package to ensure a consistent data base over time.
