Customizing

Introduction

Docusnap365 offers customized solutions tailored precisely to an organization’s specific needs. The following sections discuss various opportunities for adding additional value with Docusnap. As detailed in the guide to Docusnap terminology, a logical and clear organization of information significantly contributes to its understanding. This is realized by utilizing segments and assigning objects to these segments. The terms segment, object type, object, and data are briefly clarified below:

  • Segments act as the foundational structure for IT documentation. They allow for a systematic classification and allocation of IT resources, including hardware components, operating systems, network infrastructures, services, and other IT assets.
  • Object types categorize objects based on shared properties and features. Examples of object types include Windows servers, Windows workstations, monitors, and more.
  • An object signifies a concrete instance of an object type, possessing a unique identity.
  • Data refer to the captured and stored information regarding a specific IT asset.

Customizing in Docusnap365

To accommodate the unique requirements of an organization, Docusnap365 provides several customization options. These encompass:

  • The capability to formulate your own object types within a segment.
  • Enhancing existing object types by incorporating individual properties.
  • The choice to define individual properties for all object types within a segment.

The current version of Docusnap365 exclusively supports the alteration and expansion of properties that can be accessed via the “Edit” dialog. In subsequent versions, the customization of detailed data for an object type will also become feasible.
