File Import

Importing results from various Discovery-[Modules].exe

Introduction

Securing and strengthening the IT infrastructure is of central importance for many companies. This includes adhering to current security guidelines, such as the security standards set by Microsoft (Tier-Level model), as well as effective network segmentation through the use of firewalls, VLANs, and similar technologies. Docusnap365 addresses these needs by allowing the “manual” execution of discovery modules. An example of this is Discovery-Windows.exe for Windows systems. This executable can be centrally stored and launched using group policy upon user login. This eliminates the need to deploy a domain admin for discovery purposes.

The File Import task allows you to integrate the results of various modules into Docusnap365. This process involves identifying result files based on defined paths and importing them through the Docusnap Enterprise Gateway.

Configuration of the Task

To create a File Import task in the “Discovery” section, navigate to “Additional Modules” in the left menu within the dialog that displays all Docusnap365 discovery modules. You can find the File Import task either by using the “Filter by Text” field or in the “Other” section.

In the wizard, select the desired Docusnap Enterprise Gateway for the File Import task. The paths specified in the wizard must be accessible to the selected Docusnap Enterprise Gateway, whether locally or via a UNC path. Basic data such as organization, platform, and location can be added manually or, if configured on the Docusnap Enterprise Gateway, automatically retrieved. This task can also be scheduled for execution if desired.
