Storage

HPE Primera, HPE Alletra, HPE 3PAR

Introduction

The “Storage” inventory module offers a comprehensive solution for documenting and analyzing storage infrastructures. With this module, administrators and IT managers can efficiently capture, manage, and analyze their storage systems.

The “Storage” inventory module provides a robust framework for documenting and analyzing storage infrastructures, enabling administrators and IT professionals to efficiently gather, manage, and analyze data.

Currently, the module supports HPE Alletra, HPE Primera, and HPE 3PAR systems. HPE Alletra is a modern storage platform offering simplified management and high scalability. HPE Primera is a high-end storage solution designed for mission-critical applications, providing high availability and minimal administrative effort. HPE 3PAR, on the other hand, is a proven platform known for its versatility and performance in various enterprise environments.

The results are divided into two sections within Docusnap365:

  1. Hardware Segment
This section includes all hardware-related information relevant to the physical storage system, such as model, serial number, cages, controllers, total capacity, and details about the installed disks.

  2. Storage Segment
This section documents volumes and their specific properties, including WWN (World Wide Name), deduplication, compression, RAID levels, and vLUNs (Virtual Logical Unit Numbers).

Inventory Process

HPE storage systems are inventoried via the HPE Web Services API (WSAPI). For the process to succeed, the WSAPI server must be running (command: cli% startwsapi). Additionally, a user account with access to WSAPI is required.

Detailed configuration instructions can be found in the Developer Guide documentation for the HPE Web Services API.

“Storage” Wizard

To inventory HPE storage systems, the REST endpoint or hostname, including port (default 9443), username, and password must be provided. Since different WSAPIs offer varying functionalities, the appropriate provider (e.g., Primera, Alletra, 3PAR) must also be selected within the wizard.
