Inventorying Active Directory
2 minute read
Introduction
Active Directory (AD) is the central directory service for managing users, groups, computers, and security policies in Microsoft environments.
With Active Directory inventory in Docusnap365, all relevant information about domains, organizational units, users, groups, computers, and GPOs (Group Policy Objects) is collected agentlessly via the Docusnap Enterprise Gateway.
The inventory results are automatically categorized in the Identity Providers segment in Docusnap365, providing a clear, up-to-date, and comprehensive documentation of the entire Active Directory for administration, security, and compliance.
General
To successfully inventory Active Directory domains using the Active Directory wizard, enter the required information in the designated input and selection fields.
Details on selecting the Enterprise Gateway and specifying the basic data, as well as valid formats for Domain, Username, and Password can be found in the Wizard Guide.
“Active Directory” Wizard
In the Domain (FQDN) field, enter the fully qualified domain name (FQDN).
“Domain (FQDN)”, “Username”, and “Password” always form a single unit.
Click New to add a new row.
Once the job has been submitted to the Docusnap Enterprise Gateway, each entry is processed individually.
The inventory options allow for additional settings:
- Do not collect personal data – hides personal attributes such as email addresses or phone numbers.
- Do not collect extended attributes – limits the scope of retrieved AD attributes to standard information to speed up the inventory process.
