Inventorying Nutanix

Centrally inventory Nutanix clusters, storage, and virtual resources.

Introduction

Nutanix is a Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) platform that combines computing power, storage, and virtualization in a single centralized system.
With Nutanix inventory in Docusnap365, all relevant information about clusters, storage containers, virtual machines, physical hosts, and security policies is collected agentlessly via the Docusnap Enterprise Gateway.

The inventory results are automatically categorized in Docusnap365 into the Hardware, Storage, and Management Services segments.
This creates a complete and clearly structured documentation of the entire Nutanix environment—from global configurations and redundancy settings to storage resources and virtual machines.
These data provide a reliable foundation for operations, administration, and capacity planning.

Prerequisites

For a successful Nutanix inventory, the following conditions must be met:

  • Credentials: A user account with the necessary permissions.
    • Either a Nutanix administrator or an Active Directory user with at least the Viewer role.
    • Roles are assigned in the Nutanix Prism interface.
  • Network Access: Access to the Nutanix cluster and, if applicable, Prism Central must be ensured.
  • Port Permissions: The required ports (HTTP/HTTPS) for communication with the Nutanix API must be open.

“Nutanix” Wizard

In the Cluster IP/Cluster Name/Cluster FQDN field, enter the desired Nutanix cluster.
“Cluster IP/Cluster Name/Cluster FQDN”, “Username”, and “Password” always form a single unit.
Click New to add a new row.
Once the job has been submitted to the Docusnap Enterprise Gateway, each entry is processed individually.

The convenient Search Nutanix Clusters feature allows automatic discovery of managed clusters via Prism Central.
Alternatively, clusters can be added using CSV Import.
A corresponding template can be downloaded via the “i” icon next to the CSV Import button.
Further details can be found in the Wizard Guide.
