Inventorying VMware

Centrally inventory VMware vCenter and ESXi environments.

Introduction

VMware vSphere is one of the leading virtualization platforms for operating data center and cloud infrastructures.
It enables consolidated deployment, management, and high availability of virtual machines on ESXi hosts, managed through vCenter Server.

With VMware inventory in Docusnap365, all relevant information about vCenter servers, ESXi hosts, clusters, and virtual machines is collected agentlessly via the Docusnap Enterprise Gateway.

The inventory results are automatically categorized in Docusnap365 into the Hardware, Systems, and Management Services segments.
This provides the IT department with a complete and up-to-date overview of the virtualization landscape—from the hardware layer of the hosts to the configurations of the individual VMs.

The goal is to provide transparent and consistent documentation of the entire VMware environment, which can be used for operations and administration as well as for compliance and capacity planning.
