Introduction

The Storage inventory module provides a comprehensive solution for documenting and analyzing storage infrastructures.
With this module, administrators and IT managers can efficiently capture, manage, and analyze their storage systems.

The Storage inventory module offers a complete solution for documenting and analyzing storage infrastructures.
It enables administrators and IT managers to efficiently capture, manage, and analyze their storage systems.

Currently, the module supports the systems HPE Alletra, HPE Primera, and HPE 3PAR.
HPE Alletra is a modern storage platform that offers simple management and high scalability.
HPE Primera is a high-end storage solution designed for business-critical applications, providing high availability and minimal management overhead.
HPE 3PAR, on the other hand, is a proven platform known for its versatility and performance across various enterprise environments.

The results in Docusnap365 are divided into two areas:

  1. “Hardware” Segment
This section lists all hardware-related information concerning the physical storage system.
This includes, among other things, model, serial number, cages, controllers, total capacity, and details about the installed disks.

  2. “Storage” Segment
This section documents the volumes and their specific properties.
These include, among others, the WWN (World Wide Name), deduplication, compression, RAID level, and vLUNs (Virtual Logical Unit Numbers).

Inventory

HPE storage systems are inventoried via the HPE Web Services API (WSAPI).
For a successful inventory, the WSAPI server must be started (command: cli% startwsapi).
Additionally, a user account with access to the WSAPI is required.

Further information on the configuration can be found in the corresponding Developer Guide documentation of the HPE Web Services API.

“Storage” Wizard

To inventory HPE storage systems, specify the REST endpoint or hostname including the port (default 9443), the username, and the password.
Because the various WSAPIs provide different functionalities, you must also select the appropriate provider (e.g., Primera, Alletra, 3PAR) in the wizard.
